All I ever wanted to be was a writer. I knew that by the time I was 10 and attempted to write my first novel—a sequel to Walter Farley’s “The Black Stallion.” I made it for maybe 10 pages. After the Black won the big race in chapter one, what else was there to say? Way back then, the word “plagiarism” was not in my vocabulary.
I was a practical child. I instinctively knew that I couldn’t just graduate from high school, write a book, ship it off to an eager publisher and become instantly rich and famous. That’s why I majored in journalism in college and when I joined the US Navy, was fortunate enough to be assigned to the journalist school, where I met my husband, a US Marine.
Along the way, I wrote and sold 35 or so category novels to Harlequin writing as Ruth Jean Dale and five novellas to Harlequin and St. Martins. Unfortunately, after an eight year break I found myself completely out of the romance mainstream. I’m somewhat adrift in the publishing world now but thank heavens for the internet! Romance with a touch (sometimes a big touch) of laughter, that’s my style and what you’ll find here. Hope you like it.
